Boris Karloff Filmography

Film Movies TV Television List

Karloff the Uncanny! His voice sent chills down people's spines, and his horror pictures terrified millions. The dedicated actor had appeared in hundreds of stage productions, numerous radio and television programs, and a phenomenal number of films from 1919 until his unfortunate death in 1969. His portrayals of the Frankenstein Monster, The Mummy, and Fu Manchu are legendary, and his classic narration of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966) is an old-time holiday favorite. In contrast to the villainous roles he is most often remembered for, Boris Karloff was a kindhearted and intelligent man, making him one of the most beloved actors in show business. The British-born actor took particular delight in putting smiles on children's faces, and his generosity was especially evident with his regular contributions to charities for disabled children and children's literacy programs. What separated Karloff from many other horror film stars of the time was his ability to make the villains he played seem tragic and even sympathetic to the audience. The following is a listing of the brilliant actor's impressively long film and television credits.

Bela Lugosi Filmography

Film Movies TV Television List

He was one of the greatest and legendary stars of horror film history. Suave, debonair, and always the gentleman to his adoring public, Bela Lugosi was the boogeyman of many erotic nightmares with his most famous role and definitive portrayal of Count Dracula. However, Lugosi first began his acting career on the stage, appearing in nearly two hundred productions that would make just about any actor today quite envious. His early efforts as a film actor began in his native homeland of Hungary from 1917-1918, before continuing his career in Germany from 1919-1922. Ultimately, Lugosi made the United States his permanent home, where he reached true stardom, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. From 1923 up until his death in 1956, Lugosi played everything from secret agents, mad doctors, villainous butlers, dashing vampires, and grotesque beings. Cameo the Magic Camera Obscura

horror host TV Series Sicko-Psychotic's Super Shock Show

In Episodes 1 & 2 of the Super Shock Show, we learned about Cameo's backstory. He was an unfortunate human that the horror host Sicko-Psychotic stumbled upon inside the Sick Shack and he immediately fell victim to the King of Ghoul's appetite. Soon after, Sicko trapped his spirit inside an old camera obscura in order to project horror movies for the show. When Sicko discovered a WANTED poster (shown above), we learned that Cameo's human name was Horatio Hughes, a British hotel clerk on the lam from the law for having murdered his wife with a bulky video cassette of West Side Story

Cameo is usually at odds with Sicko's choice of movies featured on the show and is often bickering and insulting his rival, Silky Harlot the Spider. Despite all of this, it is clear that he is now a member of a very strange and dysfunctional family unit that has been built over time.

Lon Chaney Filmography

Film Films Movie Movies List

He was the Man of a Thousand Faces, giving life to an array of deformed and grotesque characters like no other actor or makeup artist before him. So impressive was Lon Chaney at his craft that he not only made spectating movie audiences scream from his shocking and frightening appearances, he also had them sympathizing with the tragic figures that gave those same patrons nightmares! Born on April Fool's Day of 1883 to def and mute parents, Chaney quickly learned to skillfully use his hands, body, and facial expressions to communicate with them. This invaluable tool also served to amplify his ability to reach his audience throughout his career on the theatrical stage and up on the silver screen. Chaney had great respect for those with physical limitations and imperfections, which society usually shunned. Crew members and fellow actors admired and adored him for his kindness and generosity -- including the great Boris Karloff. In fact, the dedicated silent-era actor allowed himself to suffer greatly under the extreme body contortions and harsh makeup he applied to himself when playing certain memorable roles. Chaney was additionally blessed with the talents for singing, dancing, comedy, and voices -- the latter of which is evident in The Unholy Three (1930), his last film and the only "talkie" he ever appeared in before his untimely death. Unfortunately, most of Lon Chaney's films are currently lost, but several have managed to resurface with time. Today, we are fortunate to have a few examples of some of his greatest work, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Phantom of the Opera, and West of Zanzibar, to name a few.

Sick Shack Gallery #2

Las Vegas horror host show

Creepy dwellings were the theme for episode 3 "This Old Shack" of the Super Shock Show. As you may be aware, the horror series was hosted by Sicko-Psychotic the King of Ghouls (portrayed by actor Jim Childs who also provided some of the voices for your favorite supporting characters) who lived inside his creepy Sick Shack in Sin City. Childs actually made un-real estate magazine covers himself. However, the illustrated Dracula/Frankenstein book by Alice & Joel Schick (shown below) was a childhood Christmas gift from his sister and one of his prized possessions

List of Georges Méliès Films: Part 3 (1907-1913)

wizard of fantastic film

Master conjurer of the stage... extravagant wizard of fantastic filmmaking... Georges Méliès always gave his ventures his absolute best and the audience was always well rewarded. When Méliès began shooting films in 1896 he wasted little time in constructing the first film studio in Europe and establishing the first exclusive movie production firm -- the Star Film Company. By 1897, entrepreneur Méliès already had imitators -- such as The Haunted Castle, directed by magician George Albert Smith -- but none captured the quality of work that Méliès produced and labored over with intensity and enjoyment. Originally, his films were projected and shown at The Théâtre Robert-Houdin, but found further success at fairgrounds to which the films were sold to and showcased. Unfortunately, Méliès discovered that his beloved movies were being pirated and sold abroad by unscrupulous distributors like the Edison Company. As a deterrent, Star Films branched out in 1903 to Barcelona, Berlin, London, and even New York where Méliès' brother Gaston supervised distribution, marketing, and copyrights. Méliès' sale prices were much steeper than his competitors because he felt his films were better produced and more care was put into making them. One of the services he provided was the option to purchase, at an even higher price, versions of his films that he would painstakingly hand-color himself. By 1905 permanent movie theaters called Nickelodeons began to replace film exhibitions at fairs and the movies of Georges Méliès were especially in high demand. Because of the increasing popularity of Nickelodeons and the ever expanding film market, Méliès had a second and larger studio built -- Studio B. But such was only the beginning of bad financial investments that would inevitably lead Méliès into financial ruin. Although Méliès ultimately fell into obscurity, 1929 proved he was not completely erased from the minds of those who cherished his films. That same year honored Méliès in an article published by La Revue du Cinema and, in celebration of the great filmmaker's work, several of his films were screened at a gala in Paris. More than a century later, the films of Georges Méliès continue to reach out to new generations of fans as movies once thought lost are resurfacing at an impressive rate and are being shared with the adoring public. Listed below are his films from his final years, 1907-1913.
